The Moor Pool Reading Group was born at the Moor Pool Festival in Moor Pool Hall on 12 September 2010, when a sign-up sheet was deposited near the organic vegetables. Since then it has met bi-monthly in the Small Hall, The Circle, Moor Pool, usually on Thursday evenings, 7:30pm - 8:30pm.
Readings are suggested and agreed by members
Books to be fiction, available and in paperback
Sessions start with a 5-minute introduction to the chosen title by the member who proposed it, followed by discussion
A small fee of £10 per annum has been agreed to cover expenses such as the hire of the Hall.

In December the book we read was Crow Lake by Mary Lawson. A first novel, published almost twenty years ago, by a Canadian author, it has been widely translated, and has won awards. This touching book is recommended by the Reading Group, as a very enjoyable read.
The Group will meet again on Thursday,17th February, 2022, at 7pm when we will discuss The Mercies, by Kiran Milwood Hargrave. New members are welcome
